When a family chooses to donate its loved one’s eyes upon his or her passing, the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation and Heartland Lions Eye Banks make every effort to provide the tissue to a cornea recipient.

However, if the cornea can’t be transplanted, it can still potentially save the sight of thousands worldwide. The Eye Bank is dedicated to providing tissue to ocular researchers across the nation who are working to find the causes and cures of blindness.
From organizations developing new surgical treatments for glaucoma to researchers uncovering better preservation methods for cornea distribution, corneal tissue and whole globes from the Eye Bank and our generous donors have been essential to their success.
